Its saxophones are played by acclaimed artists including Jeff Coffin of Dave Matthews Band and Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, smooth-jazz star Dave Koz, and contemporary saxophonist Mindi Abair. Yamaha's professional saxophone legacy also includes the renowned 62 series, developed with input from distinguished classical saxophonist and educator Eugene Rousseau. These musicians work in different styles, but they share an appreciation for instruments that respond reliably and let the player concentrate on making music, rather than 'fighting the horn' as is sometimes the case with other brands.
The YAS-580AL brings professional-inspired features to a versatile, intermediate-level instrument. Highlights include a 62-style neck design for responsive playing, compatibility with Yamaha Custom-series necks, an improved low B-to-C♯ mechanism, a high F♯ key, front F mechanism, adjustable thumb rest, stainless-steel springs, tapered pivot screws, leather pads, and an attractive gold-lacquered finish with a hand-engraved bell. A backpack-style case adds practical convenience for transporting your instrument to lessons, rehearsals, performances, or recording sessions. It's a thoughtfully designed saxophone with the refinement and features to support a player as their skills and musical ambitions grow.

*Also shown in the pictures, the case has a few scuffs and scrapes on it. Overall, the case is in great shape and will provide excellent protection. Further, there is some checking of the laquer and a few places where the laquer has worn thin. This is consistent with use and not unexpected of a previously owned saxophone. There have been attempts to show any and all blemishes on the saxophone. None of these blemishes affect the functionality in any way.
