Instrument Rentals

Why Rent?

Our low monthly rates give you the luxury of taking home an instrument today and paying it off a little each month. Renting also gives you (or a family member) the option to try something new without the full price commitment of buying an instrument. If you decide not to continue the rental then you have only spent a little for the experience of trying something different.

What instruments do you rent?

School band and orchestra instruments such as: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Upright Bass. We also rent Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Electric Basses, Banjos, Mandolins, Ukuleles, Drums, and Keyboards.

How does it work?

Fill out the short rental form, pay the first month's rent, and that's pretty much it. We will automatically charge your credit card on the first of each month so you don't have to remember or keep up with payment coupons.

How much does it cost?

Rental rates vary depending on the price of the instrument but start as low as $30 per month.

How much rental credit goes toward ownership?

You earn 80% purchase credit for each month's payment. Once the instrument is paid off, we will stop charging your card and the instrument is yours to keep! (Some of our competitors only give credit for some of your rental payments, and some don't give any purchase credit at all!)

Is there any benefit to paying it off sooner?

Absolutely! You may pay off the rental instrument at any time and go from 80% to 100% credit on the remaining balance.

What is the pay-off price?

Just like the rental rate, it varies from instrument to instrument and we clearly mark it on the rental form. But beware, some places inflate the rental pay-off price much higher than if you were to just purchase it outright. At Mountain Music, the pay-off is what's on the price tag.

How long is the rental commitment?

There is no minimum time for rental. We only charge monthly so you can return the instrument at any time with no further obligation. Or, if you keep making rental payments, the instrument becomes yours. We will stop charging your card once the instrument is paid off.

Can I transfer my rental credit?

Yes, you can exchange your rental instrument for a different one or use your credit toward the purchase of an item or service in the store. If, for example, your child has outgrown the 1/2 size violin you are renting, you can exchange it for a 3/4 size without losing any of your purchase credit.
