The Loar LH-600-VS Vintage Sunburst w/ Case

Condition: Very Good

The Loar LH-600-VS archtop guitar in Vintage Sunburst finish, complete with case. Inspired by the hand-carved archtop instruments of the 1930s, the LH-600 features a solid carved spruce top and delivers the warm, woody tone that jazz and swing players seek. This style of archtop guitar is a fore-runner to the archtops such as the ES-175  played by legendary musicians such as Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and George Benson, whose recordings helped define the classic archtop sound. The Loar instruments are named in honor of Lloyd Loar, whose early work at Gibson helped define the sound and construction of modern archtop guitars and mandolins.

Lloyd Loar was a pioneering acoustic engineer and designer for the Gibson company in the early 1920s, credited with shaping some of the most important archtop instruments in history, including the legendary L-5 guitar and F-5 mandolin. His designs set the standard for carved-top acoustic instruments and remain highly influential in jazz and bluegrass music today. The mandolin work associated with his designs became especially famous through bluegrass pioneer Bill Monroe, who helped define the genre using a Gibson-style F-5 instrument inspired by Mr. Loar’s original concepts.

This particular guitar looks beautiful and sounds amazing. However, as noted in the pictures, there are several spots of superficial 'checking' of the clear-coat finish. These checks are in the clear coat only and are not structural damage to the instrument itself. Again. This guitar is beautiful, sounds amazing, and feels great in the hand.
