Suzuki Omnichord OM-84 w/ Case

Condition: Excellent

Vintage Suzuki Omnichord OM-84 electronic musical instrument, complete with hardshell carrying case. The OM-84 is one of the most sought-after Omnichord models, featuring 84 chord variations, built-in rhythms, and the signature touch-sensitive strum plate that creates its instantly recognizable sound. The Omnichord has been used by notable artists including David Bowie, Brian Eno, Damon Albarn (Gorillaz), Devo, Talking Heads, and The Human League, helping establish its cult status among musicians and collectors. Originally introduced in the 1980s as an easy-to-play electronic "autoharp," the Omnichord has enjoyed a major resurgence in recent years, becoming a favorite of indie, experimental, and electronic music creators.

The Omnichord was inspired by the traditional autoharp, a folk instrument popularized by Maybelle Carter and other country and folk musicians throughout the 20th century. The Omnichord was essentially conceived as an electronic autoharp. Suzuki introduced the Omnichord in 1981, replacing strings with electronic sounds and a touch-sensitive strum plate while retaining the same basic concept of selecting chords and strumming.
