Evans Hydraulics have a classic cound, short in sustain. Tension it tight for a real thump or loose and slappy. Two plies sandwich a thin film of oil that supresses unwanted overtones. 

The box has been opened and shows signs of shop wear, but the head has never been used or seated on a drum.
